My Fundrise Journey

Let’s start with the basics. I opened my Fundrise account in March 2021 with an initial investment of $1,000. My approach was simple: set it and forget it. A few months later, I took things up a notch by investing in the Fundrise IPO and started making weekly recurring deposits.

Initially, I invested $20 per week, but eventually, I increased it to $40. Now, I’m investing about $160 monthly. As of today, my portfolio is worth close to $3,300 — a steady increase from my last update. This total reflects my original investments, the IPO, recurring deposits, appreciation, and dividends, minus advisory fees.

Breaking Down the Returns

Here’s a snapshot of my returns to date:

  • Dividends: $26.94
  • Appreciation: $400+
  • Advisory Fees: $2.23

Spending $2.23 to generate nearly $431 in returns seems like a solid trade-off to me.

I’m currently on the Basic Plan, which is a step above the lowest tier. While I’ve considered upgrading, my short-term financial goal of buying a house in the New York metro area has taken priority. Real estate here requires significant cash reserves, and since Fundrise is a long-term investment (think 3–5 years), I’m holding off on additional large deposits until after my home-buying journey. Please note that these results are from 2022.

My Fundrise Strategy

One thing I love about Fundrise is how straightforward it is to invest. With weekly deposits, I’ve been able to grow my portfolio consistently over time. My strategy is to treat Fundrise as a “set-it-and-forget-it” option for long-term wealth building.

Final Thoughts

Fundrise continues to be an exciting part of my investment journey. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, but if you’re looking for a long-term way to diversify your portfolio, it’s worth considering.
